Aaah, young love. There’s something about summer that always brings out the romantic in me, especially when I was younger. I couldn’t go to the beach for a single day without falling in love with someone, if only fleetingly. So for this month’s ‘theme’ I decided to recommend books that remind me of those hormonally charged teenage years, the the kinds of all consuming relationships that they can inspire.
Aristotle & Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz
Summer break, self discovery, friendship and love. This book is a perfect perfect summertime read.
Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell
A sweet coming of age story with all of the hilarity and nostalgia of any Rainbow Rowell novel.
Blankets by Craig Thompson
Yeah this isn’t a summery book at all, but it is romantic. And besides, maybe reading a graphic novel about the freezing winters of Wisconsin will help to cool you off, like a literary glass of iced lemonade. Mm.
